Tips

The following are some useful tips so that you might take in consideration when purchasing your, or your child's, bike.

Finding Your Bike:

The most important thing to consider when purchasing your bike is the type of riding you plan on doing. If you are using your bicycle for transportation you will want to consider a road, hybrid, or fitness bike. If you are looking get off the trail and get a little dirty, a mountain or cyclocross bike will be what you're looking for. If you want a bike that can get you from point to point quickly a road or tri bike is your answer. Now for the tricksters out there, a BMX or trials bike may be the bike that is best suited for your needs.

The Staff here at Glenview Cycle can help you find the bike that's right for you!

Sizing Your Bike:

Once you find the correct bike, the fit must be addressed. Our Staff will ensure your bike is fit for your comfort and most efficient pedal stroke.

Maintaining Your Bike:

Keeping your bike properly maintained is not only good for your bike but also good for your wallet. By following some simple DIY tasks you can help to keep your bike running longer. One of the easiest things to do is keep your tires inflated. Properly inflated tires prevent "pinch flats" and make riding easier. Another simple task is to keep your chain lubricated. This can be done with a proper chain lubricant (NOT WD-40). Apply the chain lube to your chain and wipe off the excess. Keeping the chain lubricated extends the life of the chain and helps to remove debris. Our staff will gladly show you the proper technique for lubing your chain.
